Fourth "HSM" is in the works, heading for TV

More Wildcats are on the way. It's just a question of which ones.

Disney Channel announced that it already has High School Musical 4 in the works, even though the big-screen High School Musical 3: Senior Year won't hit theaters until late October.

"We are writing High School Musical 4," confirmed Disney Channel Worldwide President Rich Ross, according to the Hollywood Reporter. Unlike the theatrical release for HSM 3, however, the fourth installment will probably return to the franchise's TV movie roots.

Since HSM 3 is focused on the students' senior year, it's likely new characters will be introduced that can carry on the Wildcats tradition for the next movie since some characters will necessarily have to graduate and move on. This means that fans may have to say goodbye to actors Zac Efron, Vanessa Hudgens, Ashley Tisdale, Lucas Grabeel, Corbin Bleu and Monique Coleman.

"Are we going to have all the cast back? Probably not," Ross said. "Will we have some of them? I hope so."
